Amel Andessner

(ur. 1983 Leoben/Austria) studiowała na Uniwersytecie Sztuki i Wzornictwa Przemysłowego w Linzu, pracuje w obszarze performance, wideo i fotografii. Interesuje ją performatywność płci. Pokazuje tożsamościowe uwikłania za pomocą wykreowanej przez siebie postaci – Mirko. Jej męskie wcielenie jest wynikiem złamania kodu kobiecości i męskości, próbą połączenia obu pierwiastków i pokazania, w jaki sposób ulegają one konwencjonalizacji.


Amel Andessner was born in 1983 in Leoben/Austria. She graduated from Fine Arts on University of Linz, works in the fields of performance, video and photography. She is interested in gender performativity. She uses subversive techniques to show instability of the identity. Her male drag named Mirko is a result of breaking code of feminity and masculinity and the attempt of mixing them together which reveals conventions behind them.
